Botox® cosmetic is effective in reducing excessive activity. How the dynamic wrinkles forms is through movement of brow muscles, which cause the skin to crease perpendicular to the muscle. Skin becomes less elastic over time, repeated frowning creates visible lines and wrinkles. At a normal neuromuscular junction, a nerve impulse triggers the release of acetylcholine, which causes the muscle to contract. Excessive release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction causes overactive contraction of uscles, which over time can cause lines to form. Botox® helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles, Botox® relaxes the muscle by blocking the release of a chemical called acetylcholine. Botox® is not a cure, and your systems will gradually return as it wears off. Botox® is injected into the affective muscles. Most people see effects within a few days up to 2 weeks and it usually last between 3 to 6 months.
